Our Classes

Dance teaches children and young people coordination, rhythm and creativity as well as being great for physical health and flexibility. It encourages socialisation and enhances emotional and cognitive development. At the Pamela Howard School of Dancing, we offer three types of dance.

Ballet

A classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Demanding good posture and discipline. Following the syllabus of The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) for children aged 3-18.

We also offer adult ballet classes and Silver Swan ballet classes.

Modern

A free expressive style of dancing that developed in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet. Following the syllabus of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) for children aged 4 -18years.

Tap

A dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterised by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels. Following the syllabus of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) for children aged 4-18years.
